Christmas 2007

Blessed Christmas, everyone! We had a great time and wish you did too.

Just when Missy thought our pressies wouldn't arrive in time, Mr Postman dropped them off at the last minute (of course, not without jie jie making it known just what she thought of the close call!).

The parcels!

After wrapping.

Here's how we dolled up this Christmas:

Jie jie looking like a doll!

I tried out a Sphinx pose.

Missy said I looked very smart in my black bow.

Of course, we had to have a Sisters pose.

Not forgetting the newcomer of the year, Cuzzie En at 3-going-on-4 months, all nice and fat, just in time for the roasting! (Oops! We'll settle for turkey instead.)

Christmas elf or Patrick Star, we can't quite decide!

Oooh...coming to the good stuff now! The fooood!

Turkey with Mushroom Stuffing, Honey-baked Ham and Assorted Sausages.

Our dinner.

For dessert, we had the ubiquitous Christmas waffle!

Buttermilk Waffle with Vanilla Ice-cream and Ligonberry Jam.

And this year's party favours:

Gingerbread cookies!

It was pressies time after dinner so we adjourned to....

....The Tree.

Again, we had to have our pictures taken....

Oh we wish Missy would hurry up already!

Finally....

Jie jie got a chic new top from The New York Dog Shop.

And I got....

....CAT COLLARS????

Missy thought these cat collars were very pretty! She likes 'em sleek and pink and jingling. Oh well, I suppose I do look good in my new Snowflake collar from Jake's Dog House!

We would have got a new water dish too but the nincompoop of a merchant, GlobalPets, messed up. We highly do not recommend them.

And then, jie jie and I both got a bunch of toys from Sissy S....

Here's us three this Christmas:

Best wishes for the new year!

Blow, Blow Thou Winter Wind

It's been raining so much that it leaves us very little to do except to....

snooze....

snooze....

and snooze some more.

Sweet dreams, everyone!

Jie Jie the (Sweetheart) Prodigal

Missy's so indignant she can almost spew blood. You see, my jie jie hasn't been her usual self the last couple of days. She's been acting rather lethargic and while she usually loves to be cuddled, she couldn't bear to be held these past few days. Her appetite's normal though so Missy couldn't tell what was ailing her.

After observing her for two nights, Missy finally succumbed to pressure from the Grands and Sissy S to take jie jie to the vet. As expected, with no hint of what could be wrong with jie jie, the vet had to order all the (expensive) investigations, including a blood test and x-ray, both of which jie jie had just done and cleared only a couple of months back at her annual health check.

The tests results came out all clear. The vet said that if she had to pinpoint anything that was slightly off, it would be the little bit of gas jie jie had in her tub-tub. So she packed jie jie home with some probiotics and pain relief. Now, this was what got Missy so indignant. She could have sworn that jie jie looked ten times better right after she stepped out of the clinic! And she hadn't even taken any of the medication yet!

Could it really be the gas that made jie jie so uncomfortable? Or were her geriatric hips acting up?

So what made jie jie feel instantly better? The fuss and attention from our pretty vet? The assurance from the expensive blood test and x-ray?

Well, Missy's convinced that it's the satisfaction from having successfully burnt yet another big hole in her pocket. (Did I mention that besides the whopping vet bill, Missy had also ordered over a hundred dollars worth of supplements from www.monicasegal.com in the afternoon while she was feeling helpless being stuck at work and with Grandmama's two-hourly dismal reports of jie jie's condition?)

Here's my prodigal jie jie:

This photo is from another health scare previously when jie jie had a huge growth on her paw-paw, most likely from an insect bite. It was disturbing her so much that she couldn't sleep. Upon closer inspection, Grandmama and Missy discovered the swell. It was in the middle of the night so nothing could be done then. The next day, as soon as the clinic was opened, Missy rushed jie jie to the vet.

Oh jie jie, have you been bad? Does that mean no Christmas pressie for you this year?

Us

Haven't seen much of us lately and wondering how we are? Here are a couple of pictures of us taken at the park:

The bright orange fungi brings out jie jie's fairness.

Is it fall in Singapore too?

Back!

Yay! The Grands are back and look what they bought us!

New shoes?

Here's another one but I think Grandmama lost the other half in transit.
It must have sat in the shoe shop for a while
seeing that weeds have started growing out of it!

Now now, something closer to our hearts....food!
More specifically, CHEESE!!!

Welcome back, Grandpapa and Grandmama! We'd missed ya'!

Home Alone

We've been pretty much on our own these couple of days with the Grands away and Missy not being able to take time off work. Missy tried to make up for all that home alone time by making us a special dinner each night. Check them out:

Sunday: Fried Rice with Minced Pork, French Bean and Egg

Monday: Steamed Dory with Broccoli and Sweet Corn

Tuesday: Chawanmushi (!!!)

Wednesday: Pumpkin-Chicken Roll with Brown Rice

And we got new toys:

These can't take the Grands' place but they help.

Missy In Phuket

Missy had been away this past week frolicking and gallivanting in Phuket without us. Although to be fair to her, she told us that the whole time she was there, she kept missing us and thinking how much we would have enjoyed the beach and her resort if we could have come with her, especially jie jie who is every bit the sun, sand and sea kind of gal.

This was the beautiful The Access Resort & Spa where Missy stayed. The resort is designed to allow guests direct access to the pool from their rooms and room service is delivered by boat! How cool is that?

Figment of Missy's imagination.

Missy's Extra: I really do think that Daisy would have have totally enjoyed the pool access! She enjoys being in the water and a good swim and I could just about see her taking dips in between siestas at the deck! It's such a pity she couldn't come!)

The beautiful Karon Beach.

So we didn't get to enjoy The Access and Karon Beach but Missy didn't forget to bring back some treats for us....

These dodos look cute but really,
we would trade these for any of Missy's bakes anytime!

And there's something for Cuzzie Nicole too. It's a pretty little white frilly dress!

Hey Cuz, this is how you wear it!

All for now. We're going to take a short nap and then it's off to the park later!

Waverly the Good Shepherd

So we were at the dog park today and jie jie got so besotted with two little dachshunds that she was completely oblivious to Missy and I until she decided she had had enough and then lo and behold, she couldn't find us. While Missy watched from afar enjoying a private snigger at jie jie's expense, I decided to go fetch jie jie back. Now am I a good sister or what? I say, am I a good sister or what?

Sigh...whatever shall jie jie do without me?

Happy Birthday, Bloggie!

How time flies! Our blog is 1 year old!

Balloons from Cuzzie En.

What? Did you say you want a cake?

Okkk...you're in luck then. Missy's just baked us a cake and we shall graciously let you have it.

We'll help you eat it too!

Happy birthday, Bloggie! Wishing you many happy returns!

We also had another gourmet dinner tonight.

Honey-baked Chicken with Pumpkin and Broccoli.

Mmm....YUMMY!

We saved a slice of cake for our dear friend, Herbie, who's just crossed over to the Rainbow Bridge. We're sending this up in thoughts. Bon appetit, ol' buddy!

Confetti

How lucky Missy is to have me. Today, knowing that she would be returning from yet another long and tough day at work, I had specially prepared some confetti to welcome Missy when she comes home.

Behold my work of art!

(Although I do believe today's lot is not as fine as they used to be. I gotta polish up those shredding skills!)

When Waverly first arrived, the Grands and Missy had thought she was behind all of it since I was supposed to have outgrown these trivias. Until one fine day, Missy had the honour of witnessing me as I worked my craft and that was when all credit was returned to me, as was due, thank you very much.

I wonder though that Missy should not look as thrilled as I would expect her to be. Grrr...ingrate!

Oh well, I'm off to my after-dinner siesta on my new bed-bed.

Check out the additional cushioning courtesy of Grandmama!
